Koolhaas and the market crisis
A few quick notes for which I would like the license of the approximation:
about 15:40 pm, Aula De Carli Durando of the Campus of the Politecnico di Milano (Bovisa). Rem Koolhaas on the occasion of the presentation day of the OMA's masterplan for the packed courtroom Bovisa offers a little lesson.
introduces us with a reflection often played showing a greek colonnade and telling us how the architecture was representative of the past and shared a common feeling of a civilization ... but then shows a map of the world with only three written above: Y, €, $. The market is what it is now. And here here is running an overview of what the market determine the success and what it represents: the original, the extravagant, the spectacular, the
brand, the trademark that cages become what the media system adopted as "large," Libeskind, Gehry, Zaha Hadid, ... and here are photomontages that mountain "oggettoni" luxury to form a skyline of exception. Here are pictures of the new frontier where these "dreams" land, Dubai.
Afterwards, however, the ideal image that is visible on the skyline above the sands of the UAE is ideal overlay, to use a familiar terminology, the graph of the number of Nasdaq, Nikkei, ... the collapse of the market! The crisis! And if the market falls? The skyline will turn black.
It resets this type of architecture.
At least this is the prophecy that Koolhaas, just when you first take a break to drink a glass of water, seems to recall the historicity of the moment, seconded by heat, those taking part. Students for the most part.
resets and starts again as did not happen for at least a decade (or decades?). For an architect or a novice student a bell'incoraggiamento.
Is there anything to say now.
Now I let go with less mastery and a little bit with the slogan Some argued for freedom of thoughts in a few days ago that in turn they resumed more ... but always revolved around the real estate market.
"The house is a good thing." "The house is a safe investment." "The brick is reliable." But it is also a primary need.
... I read an article from a newspaper that described the market collapse and devaluation of Milan talking so alarmed. It 's so scary? I do not think so.
Although the house is primarily a need, an essential point on which to build their relationships, their daily lives and can afford to be there to be a privileged means to make easy money? To enable idle annuities?
Think about those images a bit to the "Leopard" for those who enjoy fruit and immense prestige property and land every day and earn a little disdain even if treated. And think of the agrarian reform, which always sought to rent places the needs of others. And think of the real estate assets, including children, who has a park-case that allows him to collect at each end of the month with little effort certainly.
And if the brick is a good investment means that the value grows, grows, grows, up to a situation like the present where he lost a credible relationship with the actual average purchasing power. The rent is the solution? Not really. Try to see the monthly fees? The rent then it is often paid by those who have to confront, for study, work, with more mobility ... often very active and then by categories to help, because productive or potentially (if the economy the focus of our thoughts), but not vital for society rather than by squeezing from a professional who collects and stores later this month.
I will not seize anything to anyone but ... Leaving more mature reflections interrupt any further interventions.
If someone with strong powers to intervene would be well.
